Dog days of summer fundraiser to help animal shelters

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Neighborhood Co-op Grocery, in an effort to help four-legged, will hold a fundraiser with three local animal shelters called the Dog Days of Summer.

Dog owners can bring their pets for a dog wash, with will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at Turley Park, across from the Murdale Shopping Center in Carbondale. Volunteers will wash the dogs for donations. $5 is recommended for small dogs, $10 for large.

Dog Days of Summer will benefit the Humane Society of Southern Illinois (HSSI), PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) and St. Francis CARE (Community Animal Rescue and Education).

Along with the dog wash, shelter volunteers will also be in the parking lots with information about their organizaitons, such as ways to adopt a pet.

Their will be live music from the duo RoginboB from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

An appearance by another canine is also anticipated- Grey Dawg, the Saluki mascot.
