Brad Guzan says Aston Villa need to forget points and control their own destiny
Brad Guzan is refusing to plot a passage to safety . . . because he knows it won?t go to plan.
The Villa keeper reckons it?s pointless highlighting specific games as potential victories as there?s just as much chance of upsetting one of the big boys.
?You can?t work out a points total because football is a mad game that you can?t predict,? he said,
?Every weekend there are shocks.
?There are results no-one would have thought would happen, and they do.
?That?s what makes the game so exciting for the fans and nerve-wracking for players.
?You can?t look at the fixture list and say you will get this result here and that result there.
?You prepare each week for a specific game and that is your focus.?
Guzan understands the mammoth task on the horizon but admits he is happy it is already in Villa?s own hands.
?We want to be in control of our own destiny and it be within our power to stay up,? he added.
?We want to go out there and put together performances that we can be proud of, pick up points and get results.
?If we look at the results after our game and see the teams around us have won or lost it doesn?t mean anything because there is so much football to be played.
?There are so many points up for grabs, we have to just focus on ourselves.?
